The "Media Days" have just wrapped up, providing a chance to look ahead to the upcoming season. Join us in 3 weeks as we kick off the 2024-2025 season with several new features, giving us the opportunity to travel along with you to discover what our favorite US sport has in store for us.
Here is a list of some of these new features:
- The news that no one could have missed: LeBron James will indeed play this season with his son Bronny James for the Los Angeles Lakers. This is an extremely rare occurrence in the sports world and even unique in the NBA! "King" James is once again set to make history in his sport.
- Still in Los Angeles, but on the other side of town, Nicolas Batum’s Los Angeles Clippers will inaugurate their new arena, the Intuit Dome, a brand-new facility located in the Inglewood neighborhood, right where the “Forum” once stood—the home arena of the… Los Angeles Lakers during the Showtime era. They are also taking the opportunity to update their visual identity with a new logo.
- On a sadder note, we learned a few days ago that Derrick Rose has retired. The youngest player ever to be named regular season MVP may not have been able to reach 100% of his incredible potential due to his serious injury, but he will remain one of the most explosive and beloved players to ever grace the court. Rest assured, another Bulls player will be back this year, as Lonzo Ball has announced that he will be present for the start of the season!
- As for the Frenchies, Wemby is heading into his 2nd season with a Rookie of the Year title and high ambitions. Rudy Gobert captured the Defensive Player of the Year award with a Wolves team that lost KAT to the Knicks, but picked up DiVincenzo and Randle in the deal. As mentioned above, Nicolas Batum is returning to the Clippers after a successful season with the 76ers, who have signed "The Dancing Bear," Guerschon Yabusele. Among the young players, Bilal Coulibaly will begin his 2nd season with the Wizards and will be joined by Alexandre Sarr, the 3rd pick of the last NBA Draft, while Zaccharie Risacher will debut as the number 1 overall pick of the last Draft in Atlanta with Trae Young as the leader.
- Finally, the Lakers will wear a number 44 band on their jerseys this season to pay tribute to Jerry West, "The Logo," who passed away last June. The iconic Lakers player has been the NBA logo since the late 60s! The initiative may be followed by the entire NBA; in 2022, every team wore a number 6 patch in honor of the legendary Bill Russell.
